Join us on Zoom on 9th March 2024 for our very first online conference! We’ve decided that the theme this time will be the global nature of the First World War. For just £15.00 as a special, inaugural price you can attend as many or as few talks throughout the day from the comfort of your own home. We will be releasing speaker details gradually over the next few weeks but we can confirm that fresh from the wonderful reception at Brighton, two of our keynote speakers will be present: Ravindra Rathee will once again sit down with Alex Churchill to discuss themes from his book with True to Their Salt: India and the First World War. Last time was unscripted, so you’re guaranteed to learn more even if you were at conference! We are also delighted that from Vienna, Tamara Scheer will be delivering an online version of her successful keynote: Austria-Hungary: How to Lose a War in 12 Languages. Vanda Wilcox will also be speaking live from Milan, this time on life under occupation in Italy during the war. And finally, (for now) Alex Churchill will be talking about Japanese Immigrants serving in the Canadian Expeditionary Force. There are LOTS more speakers to come, and this promises to be a packed day. The day will commence at 13:30UK and will run into the evening to make it easier on our distant members in different time zones. Our virtual pub, the Kitchener’s Arms will also be open during an evening break and after talks have concluded so that you can socialise You will receive login details and passcodes no less than 7 days before the event from our GWG ADC, Judith. In the meantime, you can purchase your pass: here.
