The Great War Group reserves the right to change these conditions from time to time. Members will be notified of any significant changes to the Terms and Conditions. The most current version of the Terms and Conditions will be displayed on the website for members to access whenever they wish to do so. By continuing membership of the group, members will signify their acceptance of any adjustment to these terms.
Neither the Great War Group, any content owners or third parties who use the site will be liable for any indirect, incidental, punitive, special, consequential or exemplary damages or loss of any kind arising from members of the website and its functions including content, materials or products included or made available to members through the website.
It will be expected that members behave in an appropriate manner when corresponding with other members. It is very important to The Great War Group that all are welcome and that nothing should be a barrier to people who wish to join the group to help develop their knowledge of the First World War. As such, the use of inappropriate or discriminatory language in regard to race, gender, disability, belief, or any other protected characteristic will not be tolerated in any manner. The use of such language or any actions suggesting the same, such as the uploading of inappropriate content, would result in the member having their membership terminated. The Great War Group reserve this right at its discretion and without notice if required. In the event of any such termination there would be no refund of any unexpired membership subscription.
Membership to the Great War Group will be paid on either a monthly or annual basis. This means that the Great War Group will require access to members payment information, which will be stored via a secure third party database. Membership will be renewed automatically unless you request cancellation. If you wish to terminate your subscription, please give advance warning of your intent to cancel 14 days prior to payment or publication of next journal issue, whichever is first.
Please note that only Adult Individual and Family subscriptions have a monthly payment option. Junior/Student and Group memberships can only be done on an annual basis. Members are free to end their membership to the Great War Group at any time however, there will be no refund given if an annual member chooses to leave before the end of their membership period.
The Great War Group is a charity and operates on the kindness and goodwill of its members in order to remain funded to provide services. If it is believed that a member is utilising their membership at the detriment of the group’s finances and operations, the trustees reserve the right to withdraw membership. As the majority of memberships will most likely be annual, monthly members who choose to end their membership will be unable to re-join until the following year, so as not to be a detriment to the operational running of the group. This grace period will depend on when during the year that the member has terminated their membership.
How long will we store your personal information
We will store your personal information for up to one month if you do not decide to proceed with our services and do not opt-in to receive marketing information from us. If you do become a customer/client of ours, we will store your data for up to one year from the date of the latest purchase of our services. If you do choose to opt into our marketing, we will continue to contact you via email until you opt out. All of our emails contain an unsubscribe link.
Members of the Great War Group will have access to Members only forums, talks and presentations. The forums will be a place of conversation, where members can ask questions of the wider group to help fill and adapt their knowledge of the First World War. Any irrelevant or inappropriate content will be removed by administrators. The talks and presentations will be open to members who wish to develop their knowledge of particular subjects. As above in 4.1, it will be expected that members behave in an appropriate manner whilst using these facilities.
Members will have exclusive access to the Great War Group image finding service for private and commercial use. This will be immediately available to all annual members and to monthly members after four quarters worth of membership.
The Great War Group may display advertisements or links to third party websites, products and/or services (“Third Party Ads”). We are not responsible for the availability of these Third Party Ads, or the images, messages, or other materials contained therein. The Great War Group will not be liable for any errors in content or omissions in any Third Party Ads, nor responsible for any losses or damages of any sort incurred as a result of members participation in, use of, or reliance on Third Party Ads, including any goods, products, or services offered by such Third Party Ads.
