WW1 TV RE-LAUNCHED!
You may have noticed, but the Great War Group has taken over the reins at WW1TV! In just a couple of weeks, we’ve had thousands of views and arrived with a ban, but there are lots of ways you can help!
Visit https://www.youtube.com/@WW1TVchannel
WATCH! There are already a pile of episodes for you to binge on – LIKE! – give us the thumbs up anywhere you can – COMMENT! – Say anything you like, just say hi if you like! – SUBSCRIBE TO THE CHANNEL! And get notified as to future episodes.
All of these things tweak the algorithm and send us the rankings and into peoples’ feeds. We’ve already had new member signups. The group is also already driving a small and very helpful income from the channel, and every click helps!
If you’d like to suggest a guest, or put yourself forward, email Alex & Hatty at gwgfreetalks@gmail.com
IRISH PROJECT
Do you use Ancestry or Find My Past?
Looking for a project?
Want to pass the time in from of the TV and not doom scroll on your phone?
We continue with our project to catalogue Irishmen who immediately volunteered to serve in the British Army on the outbreak of war.
All that’s required for now is that you run batches of 20 names at a time through online search engines to clarify the background of the men in question. You then send the list back and voila, onto the next set.
You will get the opportunity to retain your chaps in phase two of the project and re-search them in more detail. To receive an information pack contact gwgireland1418@gmail.com
SPRING GETAWAY
If you haven’t already heard, we’re heading to the Champagne in May for a breakneck, multi-lingual introduction to this sector in 1914-18. And, of course, we’re planning a champagne tasting! If you would like to be notified as to updates and early bird packages, contact Judith at gwgtrips@gmail.com to be added to the spreadsheet.
ONLINE COURSE
Stay tuned for updates, but Henry is deep into the planning for this one. This winter, we’ll be offering up the opportunity for a crash course on the air war!
CONFERENCE
A huge THANK YOU to all our speakers and attendees in Leeds, we had a blast at our biggest and best conference yet! We’re planning to head south of the M25 again next year, to give our international attendees a shot at a simple journey, especially our favourite EU members looking to make the dash across the Channel! Alex is already accepting seminar suggestions via gwgjournal@gmail.com
